The cross country season is past the halfway point, both teams are doing well. The boys are not quite as strong as last year as they were hit pretty hard by graduation but they are still quite good. For the girls, this is definitely the best team we've ever had. The next few weeks will tell us just how good they are as the Region Championship is only 3 weeks away and the State Championship is after that.

School is off to a good start for me and I am really enjoying my classes. My class sizes are not quite as large as they have been past years which makes class management easier. It also means less grading :)! It's also nice to be a little less busy as I am not teaching an extra class right now and am done with my master's degree.
Anna took advantage of Labor Day to spend a week back in Michigan with Sam and her family. I joined them for Saturday-Tuesday. We were able to spend a day at the beach, visit with Ben VW, Uncle Bruce and Grandma KW, and spend an evening with Matt, Holly, and Liliana at their house. Sam enjoyed his time with Grandpa and Grandma VW, and they enjoyed seeing how active Sam was! They got to do several fun activities before I made it out to Michigan including visits to Fredrick Meijer Gardens and Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park. It was great to see Liliana and Sam interact together now that Sam is old enough to be interested in what she is doing.

Sam continues to grow and learn everyday. He is active, curious, independent, goofy, and tough. He is interested in whatever anyone else has or is doing. He will wander across a park to go see a dog or climb up or down a flight of stairs in only a few seconds. If he doesn't like the food you are giving him he makes it known by tossing it on the floor. He climbs on and off furniture and happily engages in pillow fights and wrestling. Sometimes I'm not sure how Anna can keep up with him all day every day. She does an amazing job of getting him out interacting with the world each day while also taking care of everything at home! His vocabulary consists mainly of "ball" and "more". He loves balls, kicking them across the room and tossing them down the stairs. His definition of more is "I want that," even if he hasn't already had it. We can't wait to watch him continue grow-up, but we also can't believe we have already been parents for 14 months. It's a pretty awesome journey.
